Mind Renovation Part 2: Feelings

Luke 10v30-37

In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’

“Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”

The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.”

Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”

James 4v1-2

What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.

Hebrews 12v15

See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many.

Galatians 5v24

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with it's passions and desires.

Three ways God transforms our feelings when connected to the vine

When we are connected to the vine God fills our hearts with Love

Love is when we promote its good for its own sake.

-when we see people as Gods good creation

When we are connected to the vine God fills our hearts withjoy

Joy is pervasive sense of over all and ultimate well being

We can have joy because we have hope that Christ's rule and kingdom are breaking forth right here and now

When connected to the vine God fills our hearts with peace.

Peace is the rest in the assurance about how things will turn out

Peace comes when we are no longer trying to justify ourselves because we are assured of our life because of Christ
