We as part of Friends Church Southwest (EFCSW) are committed to the gospel going out to all nations. About 20 years ago EFCSW prayerfully decided to focus our missionary presence in Cambodia. Over the last 20 years EFCSW has sent multiple missionary families to Cambodia and currently we have two families serving and we are about to send a third. God has been doing incredible work through our missionaries in Cambodia and there is still much to be done!
How can you join in the mission?
Their are multiple ways to join EFCSW missions through dedicated prayer and giving. EFCSW would like to send five new missionaries to Cambodia in the next few years. Would you prayerfully consider serving in Cambodia? If you are interested in serving or would like others to pray with you please contact the church office and we would love to begin the process of praying and discerning with you.
Fede and Diane Hernandez, along with their children, have been in Cambodia since March 2010. They currently live in the province of Pursat, where they are working together with their teammates, Scott & Andrea Sward, to plant a network of small house churches in and around the town. So far, they have been teaching evangelistic Bible studies in several homes and are discipling a handful of new believers. Scott and Fede also spend time each week investing in six Cambodian Christians, training them to be leaders and co-teaching with them at the Bible studies. Please be praying for some adult Cambodian leaders to emerge and for our Bible studies to develop into self-sustaining and self-multiplying churches.
In addition to the work in Pursat, the Hernandez family works to provide support, visitation, training, and encouragement to the other existing Friends churches in Cambodia.
Please be in continual prayer for the health and safety of our team, for the growth of Cambodian Christians and the Cambodian church, and for the Spirit of God to do a mighty work and win a decisive victory here in Cambodia.
Scott and Andrea Sward arrived in Cambodia in September 2009. After spending their first two years in language learning, and their third year in additional training and development, they are now living and working in the province of Pursat. Pursat is Cambodia’s fourth largest province, and is located in the western middle of the country. While there are few Christians in Cambodia (less than 2%), there are even fewer in Pursat (less than 1%). Currently the Swards are working in Pursat with their teammates, Fede and Diane Hernandez, to plant a network of small house churches in and around their town. This includes teaching evangelistic Bible studies, discipling new believers, and investing in young Cambodian Christian leaders. Please pray with them for adult Cambodian leaders to emerge and for the Bible studies to develop into self-sustaining and self-multiplying churches.
In addition to the work in Pursat, the Swards and Hernandez work to provide support, visitation, training and encouragement to existing Friends churches in other parts of Cambodia.
Please join the team in prayer for decisive victory of Christ to be evident in new believer’s lives, for the growth of Cambodian Christians and the Cambodian church, and for their own health and safety as they serve in places with limited access to medical care.
